All societies seek to create a stake for their citizens but in Singapore's case, it is all the more important because of our origins as an immigrant society. Singapore can only survive if every Singaporean sees their future and that of their fellow countrymen as intertwined. Giving a stake to everyone, not just citizens but all who have a role to play in Singapore's future will help towards the end.As corresponding with the principle Reward for work,work for reward.This principle is based on the significant part meritocracy and racial harmony plays in Singapore.

In Singapore's education system.Students regardless of whichever level he/she belongs to are able to obtain accolades and government rewards.In secondary school for example.Students from the normal technical and normal academic stream has been given the opportunity to jump all the way to express stream.For the express,there are also after school programme such as the Sunshine Programme and Holiday remedial ;all in effort to assist students who are weak in certain subjects.Hence creating an equal playing field among the students.

A stake for everyone,opportunity for all is essential for the progress of the nation.As said by Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew,"Singapore's only natural resources are its people and their strong work ethic.".Hence Singapore's progress depends on its people and in order to motivate and give them a purpose to excel,this particular principle is of absolute importance.Without its people working.Singapore will have no monetary resources and her people will live in poverty and ruins
